By leveraging the power of community partnerships and creative placemaking—the integration of arts and culture to engage communities—permanent Levitt venues have had the privilege of collaborating with Native American artists and organizations to help bring indigenous arts and culture into the spotlight. In today’s Spotlight Series we’re featuring the LowDown Brass Band, a Chicago-based ensemble that takes the traditional sounds of the Big Easy to new heights with infusions of jazz, blues, funk and hip-hop. The group’s hard-hitting horn section, groovy sousaphone and funkified drums create an atmosphere that fans describe as “an absolute party,” and the recent addition of ferocious poet MC Billa Camp’s energizing rhymes has made their live performances even more explosive. After lighting up Levitt AMP Sheboygan earlier this month, the LowDown Brass Band will be bringing the funk to Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks tonight for another pumped-up performance.

Earlier this morning, The Recording Academy announced the full list of nominees for the 2019 GRAMMY Awards—and we’re thrilled to share that 17 past performers at permanent Levitt venues and Levitt AMP sites have received nominations! Spanning Latin, pop, country, jazz, children’s music and more, the incredible talent of these performers has captured the attention of critics and audiences around the country. Included on the list is Levitt’s first-ever Record of The Year contender with the phenomenal Maren Morris, who’s also competing for five other awards!

SS Quebe Sisters

Fiddling since the ages of seven, 10 and 12 years old, the Quebe Sisters are masters of their craft. The country singers and string-pluckers bring a fresh, family-centric look and sound to Americana, and have been doing so for nearly two decades now. Grace, Sophia and Hulda Quebe have managed to break down the barriers between country and jazz, with their western-style swing that draws audiences from all around the world. The sisters will be performing for the eighth time at Levitt Pavilion Arlington this coming Friday, not too far from their hometown of Fort Worth, Texas. Fresh off the heels of a rousing performance that launched Levitt Shell’s fall season, soulful rocker Devon Gilfillian heads to Levitt Pavilion Dayton—where he’ll perform as part of the venue’s inaugural season tomorrow night! Described as “one of the most exciting young artists in Nashville’s burgeoning soul scene” by Rolling Stone, Levitt Dayton concertgoers are in for an unforgettable night of sweltering blues guitar riffs, rich gospel vocals and velvet-smooth jams that pack a punch.
