We’re less than 10 weeks before this highly anticipated collaboration of old-school gospel, blues and southern rock—between Southern raconteur Paul Thorn and GRAMMY Award winning legends Blind Boys of Alabama—treats audiences to seven FREE concerts around the country. And with Paul Thorn’s new album that released today, Don’t Let The Devil Ride, what better time to get a taste of the exhilarating, soulful blend of Thorn and the Blind Boys’ music that’s headed your way?

Billed as the “Mission Temple Fireworks Revival,” the Levitt National Tour is a celebration of the deep connection between Thorn and the Blind Boys of Alabama, as well as a testament to the rich tapestry of southern American music. With individual sets by each artist as well as side-by-side performances, the universally cherished sounds of Thorn and the Blind Boys will fill the air, coast to coast, on the Levitt National Tour. As 2018 begins, anticipation is running high for the Levitt National Tour, returning this summer! Stopping in seven Levitt locations (six existing permanent Levitt venues and one future Levitt venue), the tour will feature the rootsy southern rock of Paul Thorn and old-school gospel of Blind Boys of Alabama—a union of critically acclaimed and universally loved talent that’s truly a one-of-a-kind collaboration. To hold us over until summer, Paul Thorn just announced the release date of his upcoming album—“Don’t Let The Devil Ride,” out on March 23! These 14 songs feature vocals by Blind Boys of Alabama, who are set to co-headline the Levitt National Tour and perform songs from the album across all tour stops.

Next summer, Southern raconteur Paul Thorn and his six-piece band will team up with five-time GRAMMY-winning Gospel legend, Blind Boys of Alabama, for a one-of-a-kind musical collaboration as headliners of the 2018 Levitt National Tour. Levitt audiences across the country will experience these exhilarating, soulful shows blending old-school gospel with rock, blues and country.

Taking place next June and July, the 2018 Levitt National Tour will stop in seven cities including Arlington, Texas; Bethlehem, Pa.; Dayton, Ohio; Denver; Los Angeles; Memphis; and Sioux Falls, S.D. (the future home of Levitt Shell Sioux Falls). The Tour follows on the heels of the 2017 Levitt National Tour, which featured Gulf Coast Soul sensation The Suffers, and previous Levitt National Tours featuring genre-busting violin outfit Black Violin (2015) and the world-music fusion of Playing For Change (2014).

We’re thrilled to announce that The Suffers, an 8-member band hailing from Houston who blend musical influences as diverse as rock, R&B, country and reggae into a dynamic sound they’ve coined “Gulf Coast Soul,” will headline the 2017 Levitt National Tour. Now in its third year and created to celebrate the collective impact of the Levitt network of music venues in communities across the country, the 2017 Levitt National Tour will stop in six Levitt cities this July and August—Los Angeles; Memphis; Arlington, Texas; Denver; Bethlehem, Pa.; and Dayton, Ohio (home to a future Levitt Pavilion). This summer’s tour will invite Levitt audiences to experience these rising stars and critical darlings, hailed for their infectious rhythm and horns section mixing seamlessly with the sultry vocals of singer Kam Franklin. Black Violin

This past summer, audiences in six Levitt cities across the country experienced Black Violin’s electrifying fusion of hip-hop and classical as part of the free 2015 Levitt National Tour.

StereotypesIn less than two weeks, the duo—violinist Kevin “Kev Marcus” Sylvester and violist Wil Baptiste—will release the follow-up to their previous albums, 2012’s Classically Trained and 2008’s Black Violin, with their major label debut Stereotypes on Universal Music Classics.

Music is moving Black Violin across the nation, as part of the 2015 Levitt National Tour. After launching the tour in Memphis, Tenn. on 6/13, Black Violin packed the lawn and rocked the crowd in Arlington, Texas this past weekend (6/20).

This week, Black Violin is heading west, where they will be giving two performances in southern California: Levitt Los Angeles (6/26) and Levitt Pasadena (6/27). So if you’re in the area, come out and join the fun! You don’t want to miss this dynamic duo.

Both shows begin at 8pm. Arrive early, at 7pm, with your violin for a free music workshop led by Black Violin and stick around for a lively post-show Q & A with the artists!
