With flowers blooming, hummingbirds buzzing and this season of growth in full force, we’re surrounded by reminders of our planet’s abundant gifts! In honor of today’s holiday, we’re shining the spotlight on a few of the many projects across the country that celebrate the vibrant intersection of greenspace, sustainability and art, re-energizing communities and the natural environment.

Across the U.S., barren concrete riverbeds, abandoned railroads, forgotten bridges and other forms of unused city infrastructure are being transformed into vibrant urban oases. Los Angeles, Atlanta and Washington D.C. are a few of the many cities where city officials, organizations and community members are working together to incorporate sustainability and public art into exciting greenspace revitalization projects. Love exploring this nation’s breathtaking natural landscapes? So do we! This weekend we’re all in luck. Tomorrow marks the start of National Park Week 2019 (April 20-28) and to celebrate, the National Park Service is graciously waiving entrance fees at all 61 national parks on Saturday, April 20.

So grab your hiking boots, water bottle and hiking buddy, and find a national park near you to enjoy during National Park Week!

These centers for community, culture and knowledge come in all shapes and sizes—from intimate local branches to monumental citywide destinations—and have the ability to enhance rural, urban and suburban areas alike. Perhaps this is why today you’ll find more public libraries than Starbucks branches in the U.S. (16,568 libraries compared to 14,718 Starbucks).

Mark your calendars—the countdown is on for the GRAMMY-winning mariachi of Flor De Toloache! The all-female, critically acclaimed mariachi group and veterans of the Levitt stage will headline this summer’s 2019 Levitt National Tour. Levitt audiences eager to hear more from Flor De Toloache before the Levitt National Tour this summer are in luck: there’s a new album on the way this spring, and the first single “Besos de Mezcal” (featuring Camilo Lara, the artist behind the music of animated film “Coco”) was released last month! And be sure to keep an eye out for an upcoming collaboration with Platinum-selling R&B artist Miguel…see you on the Levitt lawn!

Happy International Women’s Day! Today’s post celebrates all the fearless females out there who are courageously breaking barriers—including the ladies of Flor de Toloache, headliners of the 2019 Levitt National Tour! As New York’s first and only all-female mariachi group, GRAMMY-winning Flor de Toloache is fearlessly pushing the genre’s boundaries with their electrifying fusions of mariachi, jazz, salsa, pop and more. Their bold artistic vision and sophisticated, fresh interpretation of mariachi classics continues to win the hearts of contemporary and traditional mariachi music fans alike. Flor de Toloache made music history in 2017, when their critically-acclaimed studio album “Las Caras Lindas” was awarded the Latin GRAMMY Award for Best Ranchero/Mariachi Album—making them the first female recipients of the award.

Here’s to the many generations of fearless women who’ve paved the way for the women of today and tomorrow to dream, thrive and continue breaking barriers!
