This Saturday, Low Cut Connie—a rock ‘n’ roll force whose music has been featured on President Obama’s  Summer Playlist on Spotify and described as “pathologically fun” by The New York Times and—heads to Levitt AMP Trenton.

Low Cut Connie’s bold and cheeky spirit is captured in the band’s 2013 remake of Harry Nilsson’s tune, “Jump Into the Fire,” (Nilsson Schmilsson, 1971), made famous by its appearance in the 1990 film, Goodfellas. The Philadelphia band’s rendition pays homage to Nilsson’s tune while adding the raw, driving and undeniably fun edge that characterizes many of Low Cut Connie’s tracks. Choosing to honor Nilsson, a much-loved 1960’s-70’s singer-songwriter, is particularly fitting in light of the fact that many of the band’s tunes are reminiscent of that era—weaving in doo wop elements and piano voicings and vocals that recall the 1960’s singer-songwriter and rock pianist, Jerry Lee Lewis.
