Playing For Change honors the Grateful Dead’s 50th Anniversary

We’re thrilled to see some familiar faces honoring the 1970 Grateful Dead classic, “Ripple.” This is one tribute you don’t want to miss!

Earlier this month, headlining act of last summer’s inaugural Levitt National Tour, Playing For Change, released this powerful cover in conjunction with a milestone performance in the Grateful Dead’s long and prolific career—their 50th anniversary and final concert.

70,000 cheering Deadheads filled Chicago’s Soldier Field Sunday, July 5, for the Grateful Dead’s final “Fare Thee Well” Reunion Concert. It was here, during this momentous evening, that Playing For Change’s “Ripple” video made its premiere. As you’ll see, Playing For Change is not the only featured artist to grace a Levitt stage. You might also recognize La Marisoul of La Santa Cecilia (Levitt Los Angeles: 2014, 2011, 2009; Levitt Pasadena: 2010) and David Hidalgo of Los Lobos (Levitt Los Angeles: 2015).

One of the many reasons we love Playing For Change is their steadfast commitment to bringing about positive social change through their music. True to the group’s mission, along with the release of this video, the Playing For Change Foundation has launched the ‪#‎RippleEffect‬ to help nurture the growth of the next generation of musicians around the world. Click here to get involved and learn how you can be featured in a special video to be released on Playing For Change Day, Sept 19th.

Enjoy this fun musical tribute and, as Jerry Garcia said, “Let there be songs to fill the air…”
