Here are 10 fun facts you might not have known about instrumental world group Incendio, who’ll be delighting Levitt AMP audiences in Midvale, Utah, tonight and Carson City, Nev., tomorrow night.
- Incendio was founded by husband and wife duo, Liza Carbe (bassist/guitarist/vocalist) and JP Durand (guitarist), along with fellow Los-Angeles based guitarist Jim Stubblefied.
- In 1999, Stubblefied hired Carbe and Durand to produce his forth solo album, but after such a successful collaboration, the album was released as Incendio’s first album, Misterioso.
- In college, Carbe welded together a three-foot metal cone with 32 piano strings, creating an instrument known as “The Zil”—which went on to be used for numerous live performances and recording sessions.
- Before combining forces with Durand, Carbe toured the country singing and playing bass in the 80’s metal group Vixen.
- The group’s husband and wife duo has written and produced music for various television shows, such as American Idol, Extreme Makeover and Who Wants to Be a Millionare?
- When Carbe and Durand were hired to write a Banda/Tex-Mex-style music library cd, the two featured local musicians from Los Angeles’ historic Olvera Street, including a 15-year old Marisol, who’d go on to become the leading soulstress of GRAMMY-winning Levitt performer La Santa Cecilia.
- The group’s name, Incendio, translates to “fire” in Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish.
- Incendio percussionist Bryan Brock has performed with artists ranging from Dr. Dre to Frankie Vali and the Four Seasons.
- In addition to his work with Incendio, percussionist Timothy Curle toured the world with GRAMMY-winning artist John Grobin.
- These Levitt veterans have graced the stage of every permanent Levitt venue across the country, with a total of 19 Levitt performances under their belts!
